Oregon & PacNW Chi Alpha happy to report a positive judicial judgement by the Linn County Court in Corvallis in favor of the OSU Chi Alpha House, “The Pillar” in a nagging property easement dispute.
We’re hopeful this will put a peaceful end to the contention of a neighboring business started from day 1 we owned [...]

“Sharing not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too.”

vic-kathy-1006-web

Summer marks a transitional time for our house ministry with students moving in and out.

In 1992 we set up house in our 4 floor, 9 bedroom, 4500 sf Portland Craftsman. Our plan from day 1 was to open our home to internationals, American students and young adults growing in their lives and ministry.

Since then well over 60 young men and women from more than 20 nations have shared our home, observing 24/7 what it means to follow Jesus in missional lifestyle.

Dear Friends~
The past months have been challenging as I try to discover what “new normal” is following my heart attack last November.
I’ve learned all about “angina”, “chest pain”, “cardiac rehab” and a host of other heart related issues.
Honestly my time hasn’t been easy and without the [...]

Wati, Our “Right-hand Woman” Wati, Our “Right-hand Woman”

Wednesday Wati flies home to Jarkarta, Indonesia.
Wati joined our “1748″ household in Fall of 2007. She was a masters degree graduate working with a local community services non-profit. Through her 18 months at the house Wati became Kathy’s “right hand woman” managing the house on days or weeks we’d be out of town.
She has a great [...]

Our family loves to invent things. One of Vic’s specialties are sauces. He’s really good at tasting one and deconstructing into ingredients, then recreating into something of his own. Today we were experimenting today with something special for a chicken dinner tonight.  I think you will “Love” this one if you like Korean style chicken [...]

Because You Asked- “How’s My Health?” Because You Asked- “How’s My Health?”

Somewhere around age 45 I noticed conversations with peer-aged friends usually included a 15 minute ice-breaking introduction comparing health issues, current ailments, medications, and hospital or doctors stories.
In our 20’s we usually compared scars and muscles which over the years degenerates to our present sad state.
As a young pastor of 20-something I recall wondering if [...]

Tunisia… the Good News is Tunisia… the Good News is

……people in Tunisia do not have superstitions about pictures taking away their souls—yessssss!
My morning started out in Le Kef, Tunisia. The scene? Me running up and down three flights of stairs in a hotel looking for an empty bathroom—-it took me about 40 minutes to find one and lots of times up and down the [...]

It’s been a good day in Morocco when…
[Shannon and Alec posted this update on their Facebook page-- they are in North Africa for 3 weeks.]

you drive over what seems like the rocky mountains (can’t believe there is so much snow in North Africa), into wildflower covered fields, followed by a Moroccan grand canyon and then [...]
