Wati, Our “Right-hand Woman”

watiWednesday Wati flies home to Jarkarta, Indonesia.

Wati joined our “1748″ household in Fall of 2007. She was a masters degree graduate working with a local community services non-profit. Through her 18 months at the house Wati became Kathy’s “right hand woman” managing the house on days or weeks we’d be out of town.

She has a great attention to detail, and a quiet confident presence where ever she is. Through the months we had other internationals living here from China, Japan or Korea, she spent extra time interacting, shopping, and counseling them.  At our FOCUS international student ministry to Portland State University she’s been a valuable Associate Staff member volunteering time at our Friday night coffee house. During the week she also served as a volunteer for Medical Teams International.

She’s always been a wonderful demonstration of the love of Christ to everyone around her and to our community.

One of the things we loved most, Kathy especially- was how she loved cleaning.  In fact as our Tuesday night home group prayed for her today, she said, “When I am happiest, I clean the most!”

On her return to Indonesia Wati hopes to be working for a nonprofit (NGO) like Medical Teams International or Mercy Teams. Her heart has always been to help others.

I hope you’ll join us in saying a prayer for Wati as she travels and readjusts to life in her indonesian home.  We’ll miss her, but we are confident she wills erve God’s purposes well as his representative in her home country!
