Vic and Kathy have worked with Chi Alpha Campus Ministries as founding Oregon Directors beginning in 1990. Today they also serve as Pacific Northwest Area Directors for campus ministries and staff in Alaska, Washington, Northern Idaho and Oregon. Vic is a member of Chi Alpha’s National Leadership Team. Locally at Portland State University they are part of a multi-organizational team directing FOCUS, one of the largest Christian programs serving international students in the United States.
At times they also travel extensively at home and throughout the world as leaders or teachers with Chi Alpha, humanitarian curriculum and educator trainers with Crossroads, a character-development based education intervention addressing the worldwide HIV/AID and STD crisis, or assisting local churches and leaders as consultants for developing young adult ministries or non-traditional ministry models. They have been to more than 35 nations.
Since 1992 they have lived in the historic Ladd’s Addition neighborhood of urban southeast Portland.
“1748″ is their 100-year old, four floor 4500sf craftsman home recognized as a student center, missional mentoring community, and campus ministry house shared with up to 10 international and American students and young adults.
Together they guide and coach young adult leaders whose desire is to live relevant Christian lifestyles while serving their local communities and society as a whole.
Vic and Kathy have 3 grown children, the world’s three cutest grandchildren, and surrogate kids--their graduates and alumni too numerous to mention!
They are accountable to the U.S. Missions Division of the Assemblies of God, the sponsoring non-profit organization behind Chi Alpha.
Vic has his masters degree in Post-secondary, Adult and Continuing Education from Portland State University, and completed coursework toward his doctorate in Educational Leadership.
Kathy has her education degree from Seattle Pacific University and has taught in many grade levels and settings, the latest being twelve years as a lead instructor for Mt. Hood Community College. There she directed the Rockwood Lifelong Learning Center and helped establish the Mt. Hood Literacy Coalition.
